Our methodology, in plain language: how products earn a place in a guide, how we score them, and what would get one removed.
Our promise
Every recommendation on lucaservices is made on the merits of the product. No brand can pay to be included, to raise its score, or to change our verdict. The methodology below applies to every buyer guide and comparison we publish.
Our process
1. Research the field
We start from the full market, not a shortlist a brand handed us. We map every credible option in a category using manufacturer specifications, professional and user reviews, and primary technical sources before any product is considered for a guide.
2. Define the criteria up front
Before scoring, we agree the criteria that actually matter for that category — performance, build quality, value for money, reliability and support — and weight them for the reader's real-world use, not spec-sheet bragging rights.
3. Assess hands-on and against the evidence
We evaluate each finalist against those criteria, combining hands-on assessment with measured data and corroborated reporting. Claims are checked against primary sources, which we cite in the guide.
4. Score transparently
Each pick receives a 0–10 editorial score derived from the weighted criteria. The score, the reasoning, and the trade-offs (the cons, not just the pros) are published so you can judge whether our priorities match yours.
5. Keep it current
Guides are living documents. We re-review when products are superseded, prices shift materially, or reliability issues emerge — and we stamp each guide with the date it was last reviewed.
Independence & funding
We are reader-supported through affiliate commissions, which we disclose in full. Commercial relationships are kept entirely separate from editorial judgement: the team that earns the commission does not decide the rankings, and rankings are never sold.
Corrections
We correct mistakes quickly and visibly. If you believe a guide is inaccurate or out of date, email [email protected] and we will review it.
